The purpose of the Fire Safe Council is to work to reduce the risk of life and property loss from wildfire. We actively seek public and private funding to provide a wide range of landowner assistance programs, services and community fuels reduction projects in order to reduce the fire danger for all Nevada County residents. We utilize national and local public education programs to increase public awareness of the high potential for fire devastation, and deliver clear and accurate information to help the public prepare for the next wildfire event.

The Grass Valley Free 2-day Healthcare Clinic will be held at the Nevada County Fairgrounds on January 11th and 12th, 2020. Due to gaps in health care coverage, many individuals are not able to receive basic healthcare services. California CareForce organizes mobile free clinics for dental, vision and medical care to everyone who shows up, no questions asked. They brought a clinic to Grass Valley in 2015 that served over 559 patients. At the Fairgrounds we can serve 1,000. United Way of Nevada County is hosting this clinic. It takes a lot to put on such a clinic: professional volunteers, general volunteers, donations of money for supplies, and in kind donations of food to feed the 250 volunteers breakfast and lunch each day. The 2015 clinic was such a wonderful experience for patients and volunteers. Please consider getting involved in some way.
